Built in 1985, this 6,000-square foot house had to be completely gutted when purchased by the new owners in 2007.
Keeping the architecture in mind, the interior reflects the country style setting of this colonial style home, surrounded by pastures in Northern Virginia, but with modern lines, and a neutral color palate that allows the outdoors in.
A pool and deck were also designed by NFI with the purpose again of connecting the outdoor space with the indoor space. The formal areas are solely used for entertaining in winter, hence the rich color palet in those rooms. The basement includes a custom wine cellar and a sizable steam room with a bar and lounge area that gets used often during the cold winter months.
